Kingfisher Calendar Girl Kanishka Kapoor

The Juhu police have started tadipar proceedings against Kanishka Kapoor, a model who features in Vijay Mallya’s Kingfisher 2007 calendar. Kanishka’s real name is Nikita Das-D’ Souza and calls herself Nikii Daas in the calendar.

The tadipar proceedings come after film producers Kalyani Singh and Mansingh Deep registered a complaint at Juhu police station against her for threats and assault.

According to the cops, the first case against Kapoor was filed at Juhu police station in December 2004 for assaulting Singh. Singh produced the Govinda-starrer Raja Bhaiya in which Kapoor played second lead. Kapoor demanded money from Singh to buy a house, said officials. Singh said she didn’t have the money as she was financing her next film.

In January 2005, Singh’s brother gave Kapoor a Rs 15 lakh and Kapoor gave him post-dated cheques. However, the first cheque bounced on January 4, 2005 and Singh sent Kapoor a notice.

On January 17, Singh received a threat call, and she filed a case at Juhu police station. Cops found out that the number belonged to one Tarun Verma, a friend of actor Kapil Jhaveri, Kapoor’s boyfriend at the time. Verma was handed over to Juhu police station and a fresh FIR was lodged over the threat calls. Jhaveri and Kapoor were made co-accused and Jhaveri was arrested.

Kapoor, meanwhile, got anticipatory bail. and 10 days later she won the Gladrags contest. She was removed later for technical reasons. In February, 2006, Kapoor filed a complaint against Singh and Deep accusing them of stealing cheques from her purse.

The Andheri magistrate decided in Kapoor’s favour. The Singhs then appealed in the Sessions court. Sessions judge P N Deshmukh questioned Kapoor’s delay in filing the case and dismissed it.

Singh then went to the Andheri magistrate citing the Sessions court judgement based on which the Andheri magistrate issued a process (first step when a private complaint is lodged in court).

On this process, a new FIR was lodged at Juhu police station in September against Kapoor for misguiding the court.

Seeing the number of cases filed against Kapoor, Juhu police started tadipar proceedings.
