Indo French Rendezvous























On the 12th of November the Mr. Jean-Luc Margot Duclot, Senior Vice-President Paris Region Economic Development Agency (PREDA) with the support of Promosalons hosted an Indo-French Rendez-Vous on Fashion & Home Design at the JW Marriott. The event was a dialogue between French exhibition organizers and Indian Designers who expressed their views on major fashion & design trends, Indian creations and the role of Paris trade shows to identify and showcase new trends and provide inspiration to international designers.

Opened by the Consul General of France, Mr. Francois Pujolas, eminent Parisienne personalities in the world of fashion and interiors Mr. Etienne Cochet, President of Paris Capital de la Création and Managing Director of SAFI and Maison&Objet, Ms. Sylvie Pourrat, Manager of Première Classe, Mr. Jacques Brunel General Manager of Première Vision, Ms. Véronique Bonnet Director Eurovet Asia etc iniatiated a discussion between Indian Designers and French Trade Shows organizers giving insights into Fashion & Home Design Trends: the Paris trade shows highlight emerging trends.

On the Indian side, the Designers who shared their views about Paris and its role in the field of Fashion and Home Design were: James Ferreira, Anu M., Lascelles Symons, Gayatri Khanna, Varun Sardana and Sangeeta Khanna. Senka De Silva, the textile designer from Sri Lanka who also presented their creations in an intimate fashion showing .

Mr. Jean-Luc Margot Duclot, Senior Vice-President Paris Region Economic Development Agency (PREDA) and Raj Anand of Promosalons played hosts to guests such as Suzanne Roshan .Zarine Khan, Sujal Shah, Renu Chainani, Chandini Roy, Marie Lou Phillip, Shahid Dattawala, Rajesh Mulchandani, Ambika Hinduja and many more who attended the discussion , fashion showing followed by a lavish lunch at Mezzo Mezzo. The leading Paris Fashion & Home Trade Shows were at this rendez-vous: Paris Capital de la Création - an umbrella organization that gathers the most important trade shows held in Paris specialized in the fashion, accessories and home sectors, Maison&Objet –the show for home fashion, Who’s Next – the International lab for fashion trends, Première Classe - The international fashion accessory designers trade show and Première Vision Pluriel - Six top international events for the textiles industry. This Indo-French dialogue was opened by the Consul General of France, Mr. Francois Pujolas, who mentioned that France regarded India as its privileged interlocutor and emphasized on the importance and the strong potential of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Mr. Jean-Luc Margot Duclot, Senior Vice-President PREDA highlighted the leading place of Paris as the world Capital of fashion and home design. More than 60 editions of 40 different exhibitions, which are held each year in Paris, welcome almost 20,000 exhibitors, 43% among them international and 725,000 exhibitors, 40% among them international.


Mr. Margot Duclot added that fashion and home trade fairs are true sources of inspiration that boosts creativity. They anticipate consumer desires and emerging fashion trends. India is a very important country and a strategic market place for France. Indian businesses have a significant presence at the Paris Region exhibitions with a high potential of development, especially in the textiles, fashion, accessories and home design. India is already the country n°10 for the number of exhibitors at the Paris Region trade shows.

Mr. Hamid Kamil, In Charge of Business Tourism and European Politics of the Regional Tourism Committee presented the « Welcome Pack », a free kit meant for international visitors and exhibitors coming to the Paris Region Trade Shows.

During the discussion led by Nonita Kalra, Mr. Etienne Cochet, President of Paris Capital de la Creation and Managing Director of SAFI and Maison&Objet mentioned that Maison&Objet is the key reference in the world of home fashion where latest trends, cultures and lifestyle cross paths. Mr. Cochet was pleased to add that the number of visitors to Maison&Objet had increased in September 2010 despite the economic slowdown and confirmed the vivacious influence of Paris Capitale de la Creation within the framework of its partnership with the PREDA.

Ms. Sylvie Pourrat, Manager of Première Classe confirmed the growing number of visitors to Who’s Next in the Women’s Ready to Wear section and Premiere Classe in the accessories and revealed a selection of Men’s Ready to Wear in January 2011. The two exhibitions scout best talents and are international laboratory for fashion and accessories trends.

Mr Jacques Brunel, Première Vision General Director, presented Première Vision, the world’s premier fabrics show and Première Vision Pluriel, the banner which gathers twice a year a strong and coherent ensemble of 6 shows. He also developed the strategy of Première Vision international network.

Indian professionals underlined the quality of the services delivered by the Paris Region Trade Shows and the importance of participating in these events as exhibitor or visitor. The impact these exhibitions have on their businesses internationally as well as locally makes them visit these Trade Shows regularly.
