Khelein Hum Jee Jaan se Premiere

Calcutta, Dec 6, 2010 (Washington Bangla Radio) Khelein Hum Ji Jan Se (Hindi, 2010) - abbreviated in Bollywood style to KHJJS - is Ashutosh Gowariker’s latest period epic about Masterda Surya Sen, one of the bravest heroes of India's freedom movement, the mastermind of 'The Chittagong Uprising' between 1930-34 which stirred a revolution in the entire country.

Masterda had led one particular group of 64 mostly teenagers, 5 revolutionaries and two fearless women on one particular night in 1930 to carry out calculated attacks on the British at 5 places in Chittagong, which created a revolution in the country.

Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey is the story of Masterda and the other heroes that tells us about the backgrounds of most of the daredevils, the underground movement, shows us their struggle, their daring escapes and tragic captures and more importantly their mission in life.

The film is based on the book ‘Do and Die: The Chittagong Uprising 1930-34' by Manini Chatterjee and the Kolkata premiere of this film was held at Inox, Forum on Dec 5, 2010 in the presence of ‘Masterda’ Abhishek Bacchan, Ashutosh Gowariker and all the other main members of the cast including Samrat Mukherjee,Visakha Singh, Sikander Kher and others excluding Deepika Padukone where they met the press and even interacted with the lucky winners of the 'Fiama Di Wills contest' which was conducted on the film at all INOX multiplexes in Kolkata.

Abhishek Bachchan, along with his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and director Ashutosh Gowarikar, also attended a special screening of KHJJS.

Abhishek said, "Surjyo Sen is a natural hero. But such a great name has almost been forgotten. Sixty-four people showed resistance to the British rule, of which 55 were merely boys ... Master Da is an iconic figure and each and every one should know his fight to independence. So to me, Ashutosh Sir has completely done justice by making a film on such a legend. Now the whole of India, rather the whole world will come in terms to what he did for India's independence."
